SEO

Yes I know, a very strange blog title… yes I also know it wont hold much keyword weight… But as you will see, this blog post is slightly different than most SEO posts!!

A little while ago I wrote a blog post outlining a few “Twitter Tips” for building followers, outlining a few techniques which I have found to help increase the number of people following your Twitter account, my final point in the blog post was put in as a joke, basically I was suggesting that if you were to use a cleavage photo as your twitter avatar you would naturally build followers (mainly male followers).

What happened next was a surprise and quite frankly shocking!

How To Get Your Twitter Account UnsuspendedSo 2 weeks ago I got my Twitter account suspended for what I think was due to “over aggressive behaviour” or “automated tweeting”. I have been using Google chrome since 2010 and over the years it has been by far the fastest and most reliable browser by far… Until this morning when for whatever reason it had become corrupted! Arrrrgh! I had to reinstall it, however to my horror all of my chrome extensions had also been removed.

I have been pulling my hair out trying to remember the names of the extensions I use (they usually just appear as an icon) at the top of the browser. So as an effort to save time if this ever happens again I have decided to write this blog post about them, this way I will be able to find them again fairly quickly, it may even prove useful to you guys reading this!

I have been using Twitter for over 2 years and last weekend my Twitter account got suspended without warning! I have a sneaky suspicion that my activity on Twitter was the root cause of the suspension. I have been testing a few Twitter plugins for wordpress which automatically Tweet your old blog posts to your twitter feed. I think this contributed to me getting banned. How Did I Get My Twitter Account Suspended?

HandshakesIt was back in March 2011 when I was sat at an SEO conference in london listening to Distilled’s Tom Critchlow speaking about building a network when he asked the entire room how many people have their own network of specialists? He seemed genuinely shocked when nobody raised their hand in response.

One of the key points of advice I took from Tom’s presentation was to build yourself a network.

Its one of the most difficult things for people new to the web design or SEO industry to understand is the power of networking. Both on-line and off-line networking has been a fantastic source of inspiration, information and ultimately clients.

However only in this last 10 months have I come to appreciate the value of building your own network. Continue reading “Build Yourself A Network!” »

Ahh so, a new year is upon us. For those of us who attended various search marketing conferences last year, I have put together a list of UK SEO Conferences, Social Media Conferences and On-line Marketing Conferences which are happening in the UK this year (mostly London as usual).

I have always found these SEO seminars, SEO Conferences to be amazing value for money, yes the tickets are expensive, but the knowledge you gain from these events is priceless, plus it is a great way to meet other SEO’s and a great opportunity to ask the industry experts your questions.
